Understanding your Role in Care

Many people choose a job in health and social care sector because they want to make a difference to other people's lives. They do this by supporting and caring for them day to day, so they can thrive and improve their quality of life.

Social care is the provision of social work, personal care, protection or social support services to both children or adults in need, or at risk, or adults with needs arising from illness, disability, old age or poverty.

It is exceptionally important that you know the duties, responsibilities and boundaries of your job, and work in a professional manner to provide the best quality of care.

This course will define social care, what its goals and objectives are and discuss why people choose it as a career. It will also cover job descriptions, person centred care, understanding code of practices and the basics of government legislation. Finally, it will also touch on dealing with conflicts at work.
