2016 was a very busy year for NB Training Services. 2016 marked the 10th anniversary of the company which has grown from strength to strength every year since. 2017 is already shaping up to be a busy year! Have a look at some of the things we got up to in 2016.
Miss Ireland Finalist joins forces with NB Training Services
Miss Ireland finalist, Miss Monaghan held a charity CPR event took place in 2016 in Castleblayney Enterprise Centre. NB Training Services and Castleblayney CFR supported the event which raised money for the Irish Heart Foundation. The assistance from Gerry Ward and his Castleblayney CFR team was invaluable at the event. On the day valuable life saving skills were taught and much needed funds raised for the Irish Heart Foundation. CPR, the use a defibrillator and learn how to deal with the choking casualty were among the skills taught. Yvonne O Shea from The National Ambulance Service was also in attendance on the night. Miss Monaghan later went on to win Miss Social Media Ireland in the 2016 Miss Ireland Competition.
Castleblayney CFR launch night
At the launch of Castleblayney CFR group in May 2016 Noeleen Boyle founder of NB Training Services was presented with a beautiful crystal plaque for her hard work in training volunteers in the CPR & Defibrillation. Since then Gerry Ward and his dedicated team of volunteers have been on call and responded to many incidents of heart, attack, stroke and cardiac arrest in their community. They are a great asset to the local community.
Border Bizcamp 2016
At the 2016 Boarder Bizcamp Professor Niall Moyna gave a very motivational talk to the business people of Monaghan. He spoke about the lessons he learnt on the football pitch in relation to leadership and how these lessons could effectively be applied in business. Other speakers at event were local Castleblayney businessman Paul Shortt who established Castlecool which is now the largest temperature controlled warehousing company in Castleblayney. Martin Mc Vicar from Combilift, Paul Mc Elvaney CEO at Learning pool and Caroline Mc Quaid from LacPatrick Monaghan were also among the speakers. Paul Bond from the hugely successful, Brix Workwear did an excellent job of introducing all the speakers with many witty anecdotes. All in all I think it is safe to say everyone enjoyed the day and found it very interesting.
The Respond Conference 2016
NB Training Services and Castleblayney Cardiac First Responder group attended the CFR Ireland Conference in the Mullingar Park Hotel, Mullingar. This Respond 2016 conference was attended by many CFR schemes from across the country. It was jointly hosted by Respond 2016 and the National Ambulance Service. Representatives from PHECC, the Irish Heart Foundation & Dublin Fire Brigade were also present. It was an excellent conference and included both talks and practical demonstration workshops. Some of the speakers included John Fitzgerald - (CFR Ireland) Professor Joe Galvin (IHF Mater Heart House), Brigid Sinnott (Irish Heart Foundation) Andy O Toole (National Ambulance Service) Ray Carney (Dublin Fire Brigade & PHECC) and Gavin Doyle & Richard Gleeson (National Ambulance Service) and RTE Sports broadcaster Michael Lyster. The conference was very informative and interesting. It was great to network with other groups, get updates on new guidelines and CPG's. The real life story of Michael Lyster’s resuscitation reinforced the importance of learning CPR and having a local CFR group ready to respond in case of emergency.
