Who should attend?
Certified FETAC/QQI Occupational First Aiders, who wish to keep up with developments in First Aid and refresh skills that may be used intermittently. On successful completion of this course Candidates will be recertified as Occupational First Aiders for a further two years.
Duration: 1 day
Course Content:
The content of the course will assist with developing a preventative approach to accidents/injuries at work. The course is structured to give the participant a good general knowledge of First Aid principles with special emphasis on potential hazards particular to the workplace and in accordance with the Health & Safety Authorities Guidelines on First Aid at Places of Work
- First aid in the workplace
- Patient Assessment
- Respiratory emergencies
- Cardiac first response (includes defibrillation)
- Wounds & bleeding
- Altered levels of consciousness
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Burns, scalds poisons & Electric shock
Certification:
On successful completion of the course a FETAC QQI level 5 Occupational First Aid Certificate which complies with the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and General Applications Regulations 2007 is awarded to the participant. This certificate is valid for two years. A one day refresher will then update the participant for a further two years.
Course Validation:
The course is structured in accordance with the Health and Safety Authority’s guidelines on first aid at places of work. All instructors & examiners hold current certification from the Occupational First Aid Assessment Agent and are listed on their register maintained there on behalf of the Health and Safety Authority.
NB Training Services approved Training Programmes and Trainers have been placed on the FÁS/EI National Register of Trainers. (Registration Number 902961).
