Personal Care Training Course

This short course in personal care is geared towards Social Care workers in a community setting to give Person Centred Care to their Clients. We will contact the service in advance to ensure that this course is client focused and will meet the needs of the individual clients that are being cared for.

• Guidelines for assisting clients to manage own hygiene, bathing, assisted bathing, showering, oral hygiene, grooming, nail & hair care, dressing etc
• Basic Principles of Infection Control
• The chain of infection.
• Understanding how infection is spread.
• The correct procedure for hand washing.
• Understanding the rational for Standard Precautions.
• Assessment of elimination Mobility / dexterity / facilities available / privacy etc.
• Causes of incontinence
• How to assist clients who are incontinent
• Steps to improve continence (Toileting plan in operation)
• Incontinent aids
• Disposal of material
• Pressure Sore Development
• Understanding pressure sore development, Identifying the risk factors involved
• The preventive measures that can be implemented.
